Pianists Marielle and Katia Labèque reinterpret West Side Story with a two piano arrangement specially produced by Irwin Kostal, orchestrator of the original work. This version, endorsed by Leonard Bernstein himself, celebrates a monument of musical comedy and popular culture by replacing the movements and colors of Latin music with those, intimate and subtle, of chamber music. In the absence of lyricism, the voices unfurl new phrases of unsuspected authenticity.
